JiJ - Days 63-70 - Sailing Between Cartagena, Colombia and Colón, Panama

Hello World.

Though terribly out of date, I encourage you to use the Archives link to enjoy the blog in its current, outdated state. The Archives will give you a great place to start enjoying a chronological account of our earlier entries.  You might also enjoy the maps that detailed where we slept and some of the places we visited.

At this point the blog ends at the northern tip of our South American adventure, but we promise to finish the saga in the next few weeks.  Check back for updates that will bring you right up to the present. We are now home in Pocatello and re-embedded in school, work and home-life.  At times glad be be among the familiar, and at other times terribly missing a simpler life.

Take care and travel safe, wherever your adventure lies.
Ben and the family.

Here are a few photos from the sailing leg of our trip...

The woeful and joyful highs and lows of boatlife will have to be written up another day...keep posted.

Evening view from the deck of our home away from van.

All children should sleep snuggled in deflated Zodiacs.

Watching the endless horizon while bobbing westward toward Panama.

Our fearless captain, Luis.  Though hard to detect, rain is whipping across his Clooney-esque face.

Neighbors while anchored in the San Blas islands.  Many have been happily adrift for years.

Buying lobster caught on the reef just minutes prior.

Stump with a view.  This island is built entirely of white coral sand.

Freshly tapped coconut.  Ready to drink something that does not taste like diesel.

On the stable shores of paradise.

Yes, the island in the distance has only one palm tree.  If only Gary Larson could see it.

Cana receives traditional Kuna arm and leg beads while the littles watch on.
